The story of Spero

In 2014, our youngest daughter joined our family through adoption. Though we waited for several years, when the call finally came, it was sudden — we met her just 24 hours later. We didn’t know when it would happen, or who our child would be — her age, her story, even her name. We had no supplies, no clothes, no way to make a plan.

I spent nearly a month out of state, away from my family, navigating the realities of the adoption process. During that time, our community wrapped around us in ways we’ll never forget. Friends and neighbors stepped in with legal help, rides, baby gear, meals — all the things we didn’t have but so deeply needed. They met us where we were and held the parts we couldn’t carry alone.

That experience shaped me. It showed me the power of community, of practical support, and of having someone step in when life shifts faster than you can manage. It also revealed how often people are expected to hold it all together during seasons of transition — when what they really need is space, clarity, and someone to walk beside them.

That’s why I started Spero.

To create that kind of space for others — whether they're navigating the transitions of family life or leading organizations through seasons of growth and change. Spero exists to bring a plan and a partner to life’s messier moments — because we all deserve support we can trust as we find our way forward.
